He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert McDaniel and Arlene McDaniel (Johnson); his granddaughter Amelia McClure; and his brothers, Ivan McDaniel, Gary McDaniel and Kent McDaniel.

He is survived by: his wife Pat McDaniel; his daughters, Dana (Monty Richardson), Gina (Marshall McClure) and Lisa (Tom Allen); his grandchildren, Meda Bacon (Troy), Lindsey Richardson (Jeff Sparks), Nathan Allen (Marta Galan), Krista Kokemuller (Tanner), Daniel Allen (Lauren Hillmer) and Lydia Allen; his great grandchildren, Gemma Sparks, Cason Sparks, Kai Kokemuller, Banyan Elsey, Willow Elsey, Grayson Kokemuller and Hillmer-Allen; his brother Craig (Jeanie McDaniel); his sister-in-law Susan McDaniel; and his friend Daniel Mack McDaniel. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, other family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking memorial contributions be made to the Amelia McClure Memorial Scholarship fund to support graduate students studying marine biology at the University of Texas, Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV).
