He was predeceased by: his parents, John Lewis and Leona Umphfleet Griffin; his former wife Helen; his brother William Griffin; his stepchildren, Randy Chapman and Sharon Smith; and his stepsister Barbara McVay.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret Wilson Chapman; his daughter Elizabeth Van Blarcom (David); his stepchildren, Linda Myers, Cindy Hoch (Gil) and Marty Chapman (Melody); and his grandchildren, Stacie Tjaden (Brandon), Derek Van Blarcom (Amber), Daniel Chapman (Tory), Amy Chapman, Lisa Pruitt (Tad) and Mary Lynn Myers. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren.
