He was predeceased by: his parents, James E. Layden and Mary Lou Layden (Weik). He is survived by: his friends, Jim and Patty; his wife Patty Layden; his children, Jeremy Layden (Ashley), Jonathon Layden (Carlota), Jeffery Clouse (Brandon Magee) and Jennifer Panethiere (Gary); his grandchildren, Trevor, Brooke, Cole, Penelope, Charlotte and Jonathon; and his sisters, Beverly Shephard and Debbie Layden. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends.

A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, November 19th 2024 at 4:00 PM at the Foe (Eagles Club) (11424 E 24 Hwy Cir, Independence, MO 64054).
