He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest "Spec" Hess and Clova Hess (Balke); his siblings, Ernest "Speckie" Hess and Esther Eberts; and his daughter Justine Leigh.

He is survived by: his wife Peggy Williams; his daughters, Julie Dowsey (Bruce) and Wendy Hess; his grandchildren, Steven Dowsey and Irene Parker (Dallas); and his great grandchild Lincoln Parker. He is also survived by other relatives and many friends.
