He was predeceased by: his father Robert Grady; his son Scott Starnes; his great grandchildren, Elijah Starnes, Silas and Eva Miles; and his siblings, Troy, Helen and Kathleen.

He is survived by: his wife Margaret Wood; his children, Dan Starnes (Robin), Gary Starnes (Robin) and Susan Starnes; and his grandchildren, Chris, Jami, Kimber, Rachel, Angel, Ciaira, Sergio and Candace. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
