He was predeceased by: his parents, Cloyd R. Merk and Bonnie F. Merk (Hoehns); his wife Janice L. Gilmer; his son Jonathan Merk; and his brother Dennis Merk.
He is survived by: his daughters, Shannon Hagedorn (Travis) of Sedalia, Tracy Rohan (Chris) of Wauconda, IL and Jodie Hurt (Doug) of Kansas City, KS; and his grandchildren, Braedyn, Kaylee, Brittany, Zack and Samantha.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Ataxia Foundation in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
