He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Abner Burks and Edna Leimkuehler Burks; his brother Floyd Burks; and his grandson Joel Burks. He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Brame Burks; his children, Edward Burks (Conni) of Lee's Summit, Nina Hinrichs (Ted) of Blue Springs, Matthew Burks (Karen) of Sedalia and Michael Burks (Elaine) of Grain Valley; his grandchildren, Tom Hinken, Melissa Mendoza, Jennifer Stankevicius, Eric Burks, Jeremiah Burks, Josh Burks and Lindsay Robbins; his stepgrandchildren, Alison Woodhead, Jonathan Limback and Mary Limback Heyer; his great grandchildren, Mason, Chloe, Grayson, Madelyn, Hudson, Kolton, Phoenix, Blake, Adrianna, Trinity, Kendall, Bradley, Wyatt and Keagan; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Cody, Alijah, Angelica, Alexis, Zion and Alaris.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 11th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Paul Lutheran Church (37507 E, Co Rd P, Slater, MO 65349). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, January 11th 2025 at the Sunset Gardens Cemetery (1801 S Odell Ave, Marshall, MO 65340).
Memorials are suggested to the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Saline City, or Big Bend Retreat, in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
