It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Barry Wayne McDowell of Sikeston, Missouri, who passed away on January 24, 2025, at the age of 67, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Coy Gardner McDowell and Martha Lou Kelley; and his brother Davey Rodger McDowell. He is survived by: his wife LeeAnn Evans; his daughters, Melissa Nicole McDowell, Rachel Michelle Raley (Thomas) and Amber Dawn Gibson (Tevin); his sisters, Carolyn Sue Bailey (Lawson) and Melodie Jo Hinson (Eric); and his grandchildren, Christian, Savannah, Javari and Nahmere. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
Viewing was held on Sunday, February 2nd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Ponder Funeral Home (1120 N Main St, Sikeston, MO 63801). A funeral service was held on Monday, February 3rd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Monday, February 3rd 2025 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at the Sikeston Memorial Park Cemetery (1001 W Murray Ln, Sikeston, MO 63801).
With over four decades of experience in the fire service, Barry's contributions to his community were both significant and enduring.
