Mertens II; his wife Vickie Brungardt; his children, Michael Mertens IV (Karynda), Miles Mertens and Chandice Horine-Mertens (John); and his sisters, Jennifer Mattei (Lou) of Ohio and Laura Mertens-Price (Dean) of Springfield, Missouri. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
