He was predeceased by: his parents, John Francis Gilmore, Sr. and Ruth Windsor Gilmore (Crane); and his sisters, Ginny Gibbs, Ruth Foster and Fran Brown.
He is survived by: his close friend Margaret Wooldridge; and his children, John Francis Gilmore III (Ann) of Springfield, Robin Dridge (Lana) of Farmers Branch, Texas, Kerry Muldowney (Jim) of Greensboro, Karla Gilmore of Springfield, Kendra Gilmore of Springfield, Tess Elliott (Garry) of Cassville and Debbie Brown of San Clemente, California. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
