It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Valera Matthews of Sheldon, Missouri, who passed away on March 18, 2025, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Lewis Albert and Iris Berdena Stinson (Lay); and her sister Janice Louava Stinson. She is survived by: her husband Roger Matthews; her children, Louava Matthews of Sheldon, MO and Mark Matthews (Tricia) of Nevada, MO; her grandchildren, Amber Bogart, Brittany Bolton, Michael Matthews, Tayler Matthews and Marissa Matthews; and her siblings, Lewis Stinson Jr. (Cindy) of Florissant, MO and Orvella Bauman (Michael) of Sugar Creek, MO.. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Sheldon Early Childhood Education or Parents as Teachers, with Ferry Funeral Home serving as custodian.
