He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Albert and Mahala Leona Tungate Harvey; his wife Reta Power Spurgeon; and his granddaughter Brandy Ives. He is survived by: his former wife Caroline B. Hayes; his children, Karen Lingaurd (Tony) of Moberly, MO, Joseph (Joe) of Shelbina, MO and Mark Harvey of Shelbyville, MO; his stepchildren, Paula Ives of Moberly, MO, Marty Spurgeon (Jolyn) of Warsaw, MO, Doug Spurgeon of Duncan Bridge, MO and John Spurgeon (Tammy) of Lentner, MO; and his sister Louise Daugherty. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Shelbyville Baptist church.
