He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Carpenter and Mary Carpenter (Ensminger); his wife Geraldine Rhoda Rice; his stepsons, Harlan Simrell and Caroll Simrell; and his brothers, Lawrence Carpenter, Cecil Carpenter and Donald Carpenter.
He is survived by: his children, Charles Carpenter of Hannibal, MO, Teresa Kunce (Sam) of Shelbina, MO, Rhoda Lopez (Alonzo) of Marshall, TX and Ronald Carpenter (Carrie) of Callao, MO; and his siblings, Bobby Carpenter (Linda), Jerry Carpenter, Kay Hershman, Lilli Carpenter and Alan Carpenter. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
