He was predeceased by: his parents, Maxey Burr and Irene Myra Oakes (Eister); his wife Judy K. Oakes; and his daughter Sondra Mullins. He is survived by: his son Bruce Oakes; his stepson Scott Hughes; and his sisters, Maxine Garrett and Bonnie Oakes.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the Missouri Veterans Home Chapel (1300 Veterans Road, Warrensburg, MO 64093).
