He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilson Arnold and Lorene Elizabeth Sides Windeknecht; his daughter Shelia Rene Windeknecht Eno; and his siblings, Deloris Burnell and Paul Windeknecht.

He is survived by: his sons, Alan Windeknecht of Scott City and Steve Windeknecht (Lisa) of Cape Girardeau; his granddaughter Amber Page (James) of Cape Girardeau; and his siblings, Betty Walton of Chaffee and Billy Windeknecht of Perkins.
