He was predeceased by: his parents, Max Shipman and Patricia Shipman (Richardson); and his siblings, Judy Vaughn, Michael and Leroy.
He is survived by: his sister Pam Carpenter of Statesville, NC; and his close friend Charles Sumner. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law.
