He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Dean and Icy Stapleton (Ludwick); his son James; his daughter-in-law Gwen Stapleton; his grandchildren, Melissa Stapleton and Adam Stapleton; and his sister Jimmie Ann Beverly.
He is survived by: his wife Betty G. Greene; his children, Ricky Stapleton (Virginia) of Salisbury, MO, Debbie Fitzwater (John) of Salisbury, MO, Abby Stapleton of Salisbury, MO, Chris Stapleton (Jackie) of Choudrant and Scotty Stapleton (Kathy) of Salisbury, MO; and his siblings, John Stapleton, Glen Stapleton, Dane Stapleton, Mona England and Becky Hash. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
