He was predeceased by: his parents, Cleveland Avon Jr. and Lueva Louise Bandy (Fraley); his former wife Sondra "Sandy" Bergschnider; his wife Margaret Bell; his son Gary Bandy Jr.; his sister Carol "Joyce" Kurfiss; his brother-in-law Leonard Kurfiss Sr.; and his nephew Leonard Kurfiss, Jr..
He is survived by: his stepchildren, Donna Edwards (Ches) of Hawkpoint, MO, Steven Petit of Old Monroe, MO and Pamela McDonald (Michael) of St. Peters, MO; his grandsons, Joseph Bray of Missouri and Aaron Bray (Grace) of Moscow Mills, MO; his stepchildren, Allie McDonald (Dan Truelove) of Old Monroe, MO, Kyle Bray of Missouri and Abbie Grace of St. Peters, MO; his nieces and nephews, Lea Pennington (Donnie), Larry Kurfiss (Doris), Lynn Kurfiss (Dawn Richardson), Karen Pickerill (Chuck), Sharon Busch (Gary), Dennis Uhrig and Angela Williams (Mark); and his brother-in-law Ron Bergschnider. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, February 18th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the Hough & Sons Funeral Home (1119 School St, Hillsboro, IL 62049). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, February 18th 2025 at 12:30 PM at the same location.
Memorials in Gary's memory may be directed to Shriners Children's Hospital in St. Louis in honor of his son Gary Jr.
