He was predeceased by: his parents, Vincent Leo and Rosella Mattingly (Gibbar); and his son Lawrence Mattingly. He is survived by: his children, Karen Ernst (Michael) of Perryville, Lee Ann Mattingly of Cape Girardeau, Cheryl Braeuner (Roy) of Frohna, Kenneth Mattingly (Sandra) of St. Mary and Richard Mattingly (Jeanne) of St. Mary; his daughter-in-law Phyllis Mattingly of Perryville; his friend Judy Grass of Cape Girardeau; and his grandchildren, Bryan Mattingly, Chrissy Wolk, Sarah Thornberry, Lori Heberlie, Amy Huber, Craig Ernst, Brian Ernst, Joe Ernst, Curtis Mattingly, Katie Weibrecht, Nikki Fritsche, Josh Mattingly, Mike Braeuner and Nick Braeuner. He is also survived by twenty-seven great grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter.
Memorial contributions may be given to Christ the Savior Catholic Cemetery or Missouri National Veterans Memorial.
