He is survived by: his wife Jane Fisher Orling, MD; his daughters, Emily Orling (David Elwood) of Wenatchee, Washington and Madeline Connolly (Brian) of Saint Louis; his grandson Theodore; and his sister Elizabeth Orling (Robert Zimmerman) of Port Ludlow, Washington..
The family asks in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the International Institute of St. Louis or to Bethel Lutheran church.
