With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Bernthal (Saint Louis, Missouri), who passed away on May 14, 2021 at the age of 95. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Otto L. Bernthal and Christine A. Bernthal; his wife Elsie M. Bernthal; his children, Carol Williams, Jean Imhof (Greg), Michael Bernthal, Nancy Avena (Tony) and Jeff Bernthal (Barbara); his grandchildren, Ryan Imhof (Melissa), Christine Avena, Becca Haun (Justin) and Elise Bernthal; and his great grandchildren, Lilly, James, Henry, Thomas and Aubrey. He was also cherished by many other relatives, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks those wishing to honor his memory donate to NAMI of St. Louis or the charity of their choice.
