It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Betty Jean Spruell of Saint Louis, Missouri, who passed away on January 7, 2025, at the age of 99, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry Leming and Helen Leming (Booher); her husband Charlie Spruell; her children, Susan, Michael and Jeffrey; her granddaughter Jennifer Jo Preuss (Gilbert); and her brother Harry "Bud" Leming.
She is survived by: her children, Denise Bovyn of St. Louis, MO, David, Mary Anne Spruell of Columbia, IL, Becky and Randy Gilbert of Mulkeytown, IL.; her daughter-in-law Faye Smith of Gulfport, MS; and her sisters-in-law, Lou Leming of Christopher, Margaret Hoerler of McLeansboro, IL and Jean Spruell of McLeansboro, IL. She is also survived by loving grandmother to her 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, January 12th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Gilbert Funeral Home (209 N Emma St, Christopher, IL 62822). A funeral service was held on Sunday, January 12th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
The family requests that donations be made to St. Andrews Cemetery Fund in memory of Betty Spruell, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
