It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of DVM George Franklin Fischer in Saint Joseph, Missouri, who passed away on April 9, 2025, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Fischer and Edith Fischer; his wife Doris Fischer (Schollmeyer); and his sisters, Lucy and Ann.
He is survived by: his children, Carla Stevens (Stephen) and Carl Fredrick Fischer (Christine); his grandchildren, Webb Stevens (Meredith), Gene Stevens (Courtney), Carly Stevens (Ramsey), Paul Fischer (Jessica) and Rosemary Fischer; his great grandchild Ava Stevens; and his nephews, Steven Shifflett (Laura), Carl Fugate (Mary) and Mike Fugate (Bonnie).
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Turner Funeral Home (603 S Sloan St, Maysville, MO 64469). A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 25th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Faith United Church (3025 Karnes Rd, St Joseph, MO 64506). The inurnment will be held on Friday, April 25th 2025 at the Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the University of Missouri Veterinary College Fischer Scholarship Fund, Faith United Church Building Fund, or a charity of your choice.
