Sherry Catherine Hashagen passed away at her home Tuesday, February 8, 2022. She was 78 years of age.

Sherry Catherine Hashagen, the daughter of the late Robert Miller and Thelma (Bruce) Miller was born on June 18, 1943, in St. Louis, Mo.

Sherry's passing was preceded by the loss of their daughter Darlene (stillborn 2nd trimester, December 1960). Grandson David Hashagen 2020, parents, Robert Locke and Thelma Irene Miller, In-laws Elmer, Jr., and Wilma A. Hashagen.

Sherry met Rich when she was 12, engaged while in High School, at 14 and the couple married on February 23, 1960. Sherry was 16 and Rich was 18. Within a few hours after the ceremony, they left St. Louis to return to the United States Airforce Base in Michigan, to grow up together. The loving couple would have been married 62 years.

Sherry's love, of Rich and her family, was enriched thru her entire life with her love for all children. She had always wanted five children of her own but lost that capability at an early age. Sherry supplemented this loss with the continued dedication of her life and services to God and serving others. Disabled children and Veterans were especially close to her heart; So much so, that Sherry and Rich Co-Founded, The Association for Midwest Disadvantaged Youth Inc. in 1980. This all-volunteer foundation continues to serve an average of 4, 500-5, 000 of God's children from Missouri, Illinois, and International Children annually. In her memory, Sherry's mission to serve will never stop.

Sherry was co-founder of the A.M.D.Y. Foundation/Camp Brim Shire. She was a Life member and adjutant of St. James VFW Auxiliary Post 5608. A member of the St. James Lion Club since 1999. Sherry, in 2022, was inducted into The Lions International Melvin Jones Fellowship. A 50-year Co-Member of Therapy Dogs International. A St. James Chamber member; member of St. John Lutheran Church. Member University extension, member of Missouri RV and Camping Association for 18 years, and always active in numerous community, county, and state events and services. In her early years before she was with Rich, Sherry was a beautiful gospel singer and performed, praising God with The Lester Family. She sang and played gospel music with the Westerners, Early Oakwood Brothers, The Blackwood Brothers, and others in the gospel settings, in Missouri, Illinois, and Tennessee.
