He is survived by: his sons, Thurmond Chears (Susan) of Smithfield, John Chears (Paula) of Pekin, Charles Chears (Candy) of Canton, Wayne Chears (Dian) of Dotha and Anthony Chears (Jeanetta) of Smithfield; and his brothers, Charles T. Chears of Charleston and Louis Chears of Charleston. He is also survived by grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
