He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Courtway and Corene Courtway; his sons, Brian Courtway and William Courtway; and his siblings, Henry Courtway, Clyde Courtway, Michael Courtway, Clarence Courtway, David Courtway, Joe Courtway, Mary Turtine, Joyce Todaro, Mildred Fox and Lorna Revelle.
He is survived by: his wife Loraine Courtway of Union, MO; his children, Edmund Courtway, Freda Messex (Kevin Oshia) of Sullivan, MO, Carl Courtway (Sue) of Union, MO, Melody Hulsey of Robertsville, MO and Billy Jo Courtway; and his siblings, William Courtway (Lucy) of Sullivan, MO, Lawrence Courtway of Sullivan, MO and Geraldine Briggs of Union, MO. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
