He was predeceased by: his parents, Anton Peternel and Ivana Peternel; his daughter Maja Pečkaj; and his stepson Paul Lusa. He is survived by: his wife Fredrica Skof (Erika); his son Robi Peternel; his stepsons, Gabriel Lusa and Richard Lusa; his grandchildren, Gabriel Lusa Jr., David Aaron Lusa, Richard Lusa Jr., Mallory Irene Keppler, Saša Plečnik, Zala Plečnik, Jure Plečnik, Špela Kralj and Borut Pečkaj; his son-in-law Anton Pečkaj; and his brothers, Janez Peternel and Miloš Peternel. He is also survived by 17 Great Grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 7th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Collier's Funeral Home (3400 N Lindbergh Blvd, St Ann, MO 63074). A celebration of life will be held on Monday, April 7th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Lighthouse Baptist Church (3025 N Lindbergh Blvd, Maryland Heights, MO 63074).
