He is survived by: his wife Diane Griep; his children, Sarah Smull and Christopher Hime-Smull (Jessica); his grandchildren, Hannah, Alexander and Noah Hime-Smull; his brother Vinnie Melendez; his foster parents, Sandy Crossman, Don Wagner and Sally Wagner; and his foster sisters, Tami Kelchen and Teri Davis.
Visitation was held on Monday, April 14th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Schultz Funeral Homes (722 8th St, DeWitt, IA 52742). A funeral service was held on Monday, April 14th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
