He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Bates and Darlene Bates; and his brother Stephen Bates. He is survived by: his wife Joan Mary Bates; his sons, Nathaniel Richard Bates (Elizabeth) and Ian Michael Bates (Jessica); his grandchildren, Penelope Bates, Felix Bates, Margaret Bates and Henry Bates; and his sisters, Margaret Bates and Anna Gall.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 13th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the St. Cletus Catholic Church (2705 Zumbehl Rd, St Charles, MO 63301). A Mass was held on Friday, December 13th 2024 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
Memorials may be made in Martin's name to Birthright, Unbound, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
