He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Diane Svoboda; his children, Eric Svoboda (Jennifer), Dana James (David), Joel Svoboda (Michelle), Ryan Svoboda and Sara Gay (late Justin); his grandchildren, Zach Svoboda, Kira Svoboda, Claudia Broyles (Danny), Evan Svoboda, Owen Svoboda, Henry James, Ava Svoboda, Layla James, Karina Gay, Alek Gay, Miles James and Mira Svoboda; his siblings, Larry Svoboda (Helen), Margaret Johnsrud and John Svoboda (Nancy); and his parents, Edward Svoboda and Marcella Svoboda.

A Mass was held on Wednesday, March 19th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Sts. Joachim & Ann Catholic Church (4112 McClay Rd, St Charles, MO 63304).

“A man of so much talent, but it pales in comparison to the tremendous human being he was. The photo is of a beer can he designed for his boyhood church's centennial in 1978. It rests on the pitcher's rubber in the ballpark in Protivin, Ia his hometown. As the ace of the pitching staff, he helped pitch his team to a 3rd place finish in fast-pitch softball in 1965, a town of only 302 in a 1 class system. Our town sends all our best to Diane and family. Bud was a great role model. A favorite son”
