He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert Oberhelman and Mildred Oberhelman (Nelson); and his sister Peggy. He is survived by: his significant other Melinda Oberhelman (Sears); his sister Donna; and his sister-in-law Edie. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

His last giving gesture to this world was by way of organ donation.
