He was predeceased by: his parents, William E. Byrd, Sr. and Pauline Byrd. He is survived by: his wife Susan Leslie Byrd (D'Aversa) of Rolla, MO; his children, Preston Earl Byrd of LasVegas, NV, Stephen Ellis Byrd (Stephanie Lagoda) of St. Robert, MO, William Earl Byrd, III of Mechanicsville, VA, Christina Elizabeth Byrd (Heather Gailey) of Nixa, MO and Jennifer Clarambeau (Jay) of Maine; his daughter-in-law Angela Byrd of Las Vegas, NV; his sisters, Frances Amend (John) and Linda Samson (Jim); and his close friend Rick Kendle (Ethel) of Salem, MO.. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren.
