It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Paul Joseph Mertens of Rolla, Missouri, who passed away on September 15, 2020, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Mertens and Leona Mertens (Hentges); his son Dennis Mertens; and his siblings, Jim, Karl Mertens, Barb McBaine and Judy Burrows.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Mertens (Williams) of Rolla; his children, Paula Volkmer (Eric) of Rolla, Scott Mertens (Melinda) of Rolla and Tracey Davies (Tim) of Liberty, MO; his siblings, Gerald Mertens of Vermont and Kathy McClure of Russellville, MO; his grandchildren, Paul Volkmer (Gina), John Volkmer, Erica Volkmer, Tanner Mertens, Elias Mertens, L. J. Davies, Aiden Mertens, Kellan Davies, Jude Mertens and Rhys Davies; and his great grandchildren, Drake Volkmer and Eleanor Volkmer. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other extended family members and many dear friends.
Because of COVID-19 concerns and out of an abundance of concern for the public, the funeral mass for Paul "PJ" Mertens will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the MASTERS (Missouri Association of State Troopers Emergency Relief Society).
