He was predeceased by: his parents, Cyrus Eugene and Gertrude Amelia Butt Gahr; and his aunt Ada. He is survived by: his children, Nikki Gahr Sells (Robert) of Franklin, TN and Jon Scott Gahr (Barbara) of St. James; his half-sister Fern Gahr of Steelville, MO; and his grandchildren, Wes, Nickole, Aaron, Jennifer, Angela and Jesse.
