Fleeta Aleene (Woods) Mason Obituary
Celebrating the Life of Fleeta (Woods) Mason
Fleeta Mason went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, October 5, 2022.
She was preceded by her husband of 43 years, Val Mason; her parents,
Jenny and Glen Woods, her brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Tonda
Woods, a son in law, Rodger Biles, her niece, Margaret (Noah) Bond, and
her great niece, Randen Bond.
Remaining to celebrate her memory are her two daughters, Valerie (Mason)
Biles, Joyce (Mason) Hill, her son in law, Harlan Hill, her grandsons,
Nathan and Jacob Hill, her sister Judy (Woods) Noah and brother-in-law
Dan Noah, her nephew Andy Noah, his wife Sarah and their sons Logan
and Landen Noah. Fleeta’s 2 step-grandchildren Aubrie Biles Baack and
Dylan Biles survive her as well as Aubrie & Justin Baack’s 2 step-great
grandchildren, Abigail and Amelia Baack and Dylan’s Wife Sabrina. Fleeta
is also survived by her niece Kerrie (Woods) Bertrand and her son Zach
Bertrand, and her nephew Jason Woods and his daughters Ashley Stipp
and Taylor Woods. Her very dear cousin, Margaret Stratton, and her family
survive Fleeta, as well as a full bucket of lifelong friends.
Fleeta’s life was dedicated to family and friends, her teaching career, and
her community. She was born on July 1st, 1932, in Neosho, Missouri and
was very proud of her hometown! She graduated high school in 1950, and
completed her Bachelor’s degree in elementary education at Southwest
Missouri State College in 1954. She then completed her Master’s degree
from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kansas, and taught many
thousands of children during her 38-year career, often having two or three
generations of students from the same family go through her classroom!
Fleeta was an active member in her church and many social and
community organizations including; the American Association of University
Women, Neosho’s New Century Club, and the Happy Harmoneers group at
Harmony Baptist Church, Rogersville, MO.
There will be a celebration of Fleeta’s life beginning at 11 am on Saturday,
October 15th, 2022 at Harmony Baptist Church, 5105 South State Highway
125, Rogersville, MO.
The internment of her ashes will be held at the Saginaw Cemetery,
Saginaw, MO on Saturday, April 22nd, 2023 with a luncheon following the
ceremony.
