He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward B. Backe, Sr. and Juanita A. Backe (Deringer). He is survived by: his wife Sandy; his children, Jeff Backe (Rebecca), Craig Backe (Tonya) and Pam Anderson (Steve); his siblings, Maynard "Bud" Gray (Gwen) and Evangeline "Dolly" Steinmeier; his grandchildren, Megan Flick (Tim), Matt Anderson (Lindsey), Melissa Howard (Jeremy), Sarah Walker (Gideon) and Emily Backe; and his great grandchildren, Jackson, Matthias, Ada, Ali, Nolan and Henry. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
