He was predeceased by: his parents, Nelson Henry Smith of Richwoods and Ruth Clelland Smith (Thompson); his sister Maryellen Wernick (Smith); and his former wife Gail Smith (Heidt). He is survived by: his wife Barbara Smith (Kuntz); his children, Matthew Smith (Robyn) of Metuchen and Darian Llopis (Jose) of Colonia; his grandchildren, Catherine, Sebastian Llopis, June and Tessa Smith; and his brother-in-law Thomas Wernick of Barnegat.
