It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard Lavern of Richmond, Missouri, born in Eagleville, Missouri, who passed away on May 19, 2019, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Rex and Margaret Sweeney (Winger); his siblings, Howard, Charles Sweeney, Leona Houlihan and Margaret Thompson; and also Donna DeVal of Kansas City.
He is survived by: his wife Sharon Kay Green of Kansas City; his brother Ernest Dean Sweeney (Judy) of Independence, KY; his stepchildren, Larry Miller (Lori) of Kansas City, Peggy Hawkins (Ron) of Pleasant Hill, Rockford Douthit (Kathy) of Kansas City, Ernest Douthit of Orrick and Paula Douthit of Orrick; his grandchildren, Jennifer Hawkins (Andrew), Lauren Hawkins, Elizabeth Hawkins and Nicole; his great grandchildren, Penelope and Gracie; and his goddaughters, Emma and Grace Wilkerson of Kansas City.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Richmond or to the University of Kansas Cancer Center.
