He was predeceased by: his father Albert "Leroy" Bates; his wife Debra Lynn Cowick of Carrollton; and his sons, Ralph Douglas Bates, Jr. and Curtis Wayne Bates. He is survived by: his mother Patricia Ann Bates (Stroud) of Norborne; his sons, Bradley Alan Bates (Kathy) of Moberly and Tommy Lee Bates (Tiffanie Banks) of Norborne; his grandson Adrian Lee Bates; and his siblings, Rick Bates of Norborne, Robert Bates (Mindy) of Richmond and Lisa Rainey (Alan) of Norborne. He is also survived by his family and friends.
