He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Truby Jr. and Mary Truby; and his son Don Truby. He is survived by: his wife Linda Truby; his children, Shawn Truby (Rhonda) and Kelly Truby (Russell Kelly); his grandsons, Blake Hilluby (Hannah) and Chad Truby (Lindsey); and his sister Janet McWhirt (Robert).

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the D.A.V. or the Disabled American Veterans.
