He was predeceased by: his father John Everett Fanning; and his sister Alice Roberts. He is survived by: his mother Anita L. Fanning (Ragland) of Richmond; his siblings, John P. Fanning of Tucson, AZ, Timothy E. Fanning of Quemno, KS and Tina Penniston (Jerry) of Dockery; his nieces and nephews, Jeremy Scott Fanning, Harold Penniston (Melanie), Joe Penniston (Jessica), Diana Barker (Eric) and Tiffany Handley (Shaun); and his close friends, Vanessa Thompson and Renee Tabor (Steve). He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Jeffrey Lee Fanning Memorial Fund.
