He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Barbara; his daughters, Cindy Dalton (John), Kim Ray and Jamie Tweedie (Sam); his brother Robert E. "Bob" Swafford (Virginia); and his parents, James A. Swafford and Frances M. Swafford. He was also cherished by five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Shirkey Hospice in Richmond.
