He was predeceased by: his daughter Annette Proffitt; and his brother Bennie Tippins. He is survived by: his daughter Bonita Dunwoodie (Kyle); his grandchildren, Loren Gene Proffitt (Stephanie), Joseph Dane Dunwoodie (Ashley) and Megan Ashley Harbison (Alex Stevenson); his son-in-law Bobbie Gene Proffitt; his great grandchildren, Blakely Morgan, Hadley Quinn Harbison, Joseph Finnegan "Finn", Hayes Thomas Dunwoodie and River Marie Proffitt; and his niece Saundra Tippins Pascavage (John).
