He was predeceased by: his parents, Bertram Victor and Agnes Cecelia Fister; his son Patrick; and his brother Bertram. He is survived by: his wife Virginia Mae Pecher; his children, Richard, Jr. (Mimi), Jeffrey (Laura), Julia and Amalia (Paul); his sister Agnes Cecelia Hughes; his daughter-in-law Laurie Clithero (Michael); his grandchildren, Matthew, Daniel, Virginia, James, Gregory, Sif, Theresa, Luke (Jeffrey), Jack, Ted (Patrick), Tara and Ryan (Amalia); and his great grandchildren, Alexander, Aristotle, Daphne (Matthew), Eléonore, Victoire, Raphael (Virginia) and Penelope (James).
