He is survived by: his wife Rosa Lee Mortensen; and his children, Luke Mortensen, Jimmy Brashear (Valarie), Ricky Brashear (Donna), Loretta Thorpe (Harold), Brenda Hamlin and Suky Stuckey (Sean). He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
