He was predeceased by: his parents, Sonnie Burks and Lula Burks (Slagle); and his brother Sonnie Burks. He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his sons, Ed Burks (Trish), Jim Burks (Cindy) and Tom Burks (Kimberly); his grandchildren, Andrea Strempke (Jason), Mindi Rodriguez (Jason), Katie Jackson (Tony), Julia Burks and Nathan Burks; his great grandchildren, Tristan Burks, Tinley Jackson, River, Daisy Strempke, Roman and Deacon Rodriguez; his niece Nita Burks; and his nephew Steve Burks. He is also survived by other extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Christian Church's Permanent Fund.
