It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Aretha Barbara Burks of Republic, Missouri, born in Akron, Ohio, who passed away on February 1, 2024, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ted Joule and Aretha Joule (Farris); and her significant other Robert "Bob" Burks. She is survived by: her sons, Ed Burks (Trish) of Arlington, TX, Jim Burks (Cindy) of Republic, MO and Tom Burks (Kimberly Strong) of Haymarket, VA; her grandchildren, Andrea Strempke (Jason) of Paradise, TX, Mindi Rodriguez (Jason) of Plano, TX, Katie Jackson (Tony) of Republic, MO, Julia Burks of Ladson, SC and Nathan Burks of Florence, SC; her great grandchildren, Tristan Burks, River Strempke, Roman Rodriguez, Deacon Rodriguez, Daisy Strempke and Tinley Jackson; her niece Nita Burks of Bainbridge Island, WA; and her nephew Steve Burks of Mount Vernon, WA. She is also survived by other extended family and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Permanent Fund of the First Christian Church in Republic MO.
