He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Matern and Dorothy Matern (Waller); and his sister Beverley VanCleave. He is survived by: his wife Levella Gayle Matern; his sister Lauri Fraser; his son Mason Matern (Crystal); and his stepsons, Bryan Watts (Julie) and Craig Watts. He is also survived by three grandchildren and one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
