He was predeceased by: his parents, Bert Young and Clara Young; his wife Vivian S. Swearngin; and his siblings, Dr. Harold Young of Warrensburg and Marie Stoner of Sedalia.

He is survived by: his son Jerry Lee Young; his grandson Jeff Young; and his great grandchild Gunner Young.
