He was predeceased by: his parents, David Walker Freeman and Effie Dora Freeman (Mann); his wife Ruby Lee; his daughter Marcia Elaine Stanley; and his grandson Kurt Alan Stanley.

He is survived by: his sisters, Dora and Lois Edna Carter of Columbia; and his daughter Glenda Teghtmeyer (Sam). He is also survived by six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
